Belt Disc SandersA belt/disc sander is a combination of both applications on the same machine. The Disc consists of a replaceable circular shaped abrasive sandpaper attached to a wheel that is spun around. The piece of timber is placed on a front bench that can be adjusted to various angles. It can be used for rough or fine sanding depending on the sanding grit used. The Belt consists of a continuous loop of abrasive sand paper that rotates between two drums at a set distance apart. They are normally used only for the beginning stages of the sanding process, or used to rapidly remove material. Sometimes they are also used for removing paints or finishes from wood. Fitted with fine grit sand paper, a belt sander can be used to assure a completely smooth surface. Sanding wood produces a large amount of sawdust. Therefore we recommend you use these machines in conjunction with some type of dust collection system.

The gold standard in woodworking was not always gold on the outside. In 1921 the first POWERMATIC tool, a planer was produced by Leonard f. Smith, Sr. A lumber dealer. Originally painted green, the planer was built to perform for long durations in the most challenging environments. Demand for these machines grew and the legend of POWERMATIC was born. The power of POWERMATIC soon became known as the gold standard in woodworking for its tremendous performance and durability. It would only be in the years to come that the exterior of each machine reflect its interior gold excellence.
The POWERMATIC name has lasted for more than 85 years and its products are built to last for the future generations. The innovative features incorporated into each machine have earned them numerous awards and countless outstanding reviews.
POWERMATIC is also a part of the WMH Tool Group which consists of Jet, Powermatic, Performax and Wilton Tools
