Filter Efficiency

It is a well known fact that the air capacity of a dust extractor is controlled by the performance characteristics of the top filter bag. The best filter medium available can reduce its efficiency by up to 60% from fine dust impregnating or blinding the pores of the filter media. If air cannot pass through the filter, the bag simply becomes pressurised and inflates. Hard filter bags do not breath effectively. Air cannot escape, creates back pressure against the fan and reduce the amount of dust laden air that can be drawn into the machine. Reduction in airflow means the dust is not being collected at the machines dust collection hood. The whole dust extraction system becomes ineffective despite the best efforts of the fan and motor, resulting in an unsafe working environment system.


The Solution

Update to the latest technology to solve your problems by installing a pleated filter canister to your dust collector. It is high efficient, PTFE impregnated, non-woven polyester material, formed into a cylindrical, pleated filter canister.This configuration provides a greater filter area (by a factor of up to 6 times) relative to a standard filter bag, ensuring a large throughput of air from the fan. These anti static filters are efficient, in that they can withstand fine material down to 2 microns (2/1000mm). Example: Pollen = 7 microns. Dust particles under 100 microns float around in the air and can not be seen. Standard dust extraction units are supplied with nylon filter bags which filter dust particles to approximately 30 microns. These stand alone units are designed to be installed next to the machine it is extracting dust from, therefore, the operator is breathing in the fine dusty air escaping the filter bags.By installing a new or upgrading your existing unit to a pleated filter cartridge system, you will not only save on running cost, but on expensive sick leave having a cleaner and safer air environment.

Maintenance

Cleaning of the pleated filter is performed from the outside by rotating the internal filter brush handle and a minimum of 3 revolutions in both directions. The displaced material falls down into the collector bag and does not contaminate the outside air. We recommend at least once a year to remove the filter and wash it thoroughly.

Service Life

The service life of a pleated filter is dramatically longer than a conventional filter bag so your investment is a "one off" for a minimum period of 5 to 6 years, (subject to correct operation and servicing of the filter canister).

Material Collection Bags

Most portable dust extractors utilise the same media material bag for collection of extracted products prior to transferring to the industrial bin for disposal. Emptying of these collector bags usually results in the operator being covered in a dangerous quantity of dust and wood product. In addition, we have reason to believe that council authorities and environment protection agencies are now paying particular attention to wood product dumped loose into industrial bins.

Cost Effective Disposable Bags

As we can now provide more efficient filter mediums to replace the top filter bag position, it is recommended when fitting a filter canister, to replace the existing waste collection bag with a disposable clear polyethylene bag. Disposable. These disposable bags are fitted to the dust extraction hoop with a heavy duty adjustable clamp and foam rubber is also fitted to the metal hoop to seal the bag connection from leaking dust.

Woodman is a brand of Machinery mostly imported from Taiwan. In Australia there are a number of companies that import the Woodman brand forming the Woodman Group. Gregory Machinery are part of the Woodman Group in Brisbane, while the other members are based in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

The thing that makes the Woodman brand different to other machinery imported from Taiwan or China, is that the machinery is hand picked and inspected by Gregory Machinery themselves. Our experienced staff visits the factories and inspects the machinery in the line of production. It is then that a decision is made to import the machinery on the quality, reliability and value of the machine as well as the quality and reliability of the manufacturer.

Once a new Woodman product has been introduced to Gregory Machinery they are then tested again in our work shop by our technical and electrical staff.
